A missing boy whose mother was found dead on Thursday has been found at a church, but police are still looking for the baby's father.
About 10:24 a.m. Thursday, officers called for a well-being check by a family member at an apartment in the 8200 block of Keating Avenue found 31-year-old Catherine M. Benyamin murdered.
Benyamin’s 10-month-old son, Joshua Powell, was missing. He was dropped off at a church near Roosevelt and Halsted in Chicago later in the day.
Police are looking for his father, Jermaine Powell. They are not calling him a suspect at this time. They say the person who dropped off Joshua did bear a resemblance to Jermaine Powell.
The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force is assisting Skokie police in the investigation. Police believe the death was an isolated event.
