Plans to install cameras along Chicago area expressways stall

The deadliest expressway in Chicagoland is the Dan Ryan. So, where are the upgraded cameras the Illinois Department of Transportation announced they had the money to buy two months ago?

A Justice man was wounded in a shooting Saturday on the Stevenson Expressway near Little Village on the Southwest Side.

The 35-year-old man was traveling in a vehicle about 5:15 p.m. on southbound Interstate 55 near Kedzie Avenue when someone from another vehicle fired shots, according to Illinois State Police.

He pulled over near the exit ramp at Pulaski Road and was taken to Mount Sinai with non-life-threatening injuries, Illinois State Police said.

A 36-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle and two passengers, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old, were not injured, police said.

Illinois State Police continue to investigate, but no further details on the shooting are available, state police said.

Southbound lanes were shut down about 6:30 p.m. for the investigation but were reopened about 7:19 p.m., state police said.
