Illinois man sentenced to more than 8 years in prison for heroin, cocaine trafficking

A Central Illinois man was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison for drug trafficking and gun charges while he was on supervised release related to prior offenses.

Terrence J. Shaw, 43, of Peoria, was sentenced last week to 102 months in federal prison, according to federal prosecutors.

Last March, Peoria police responded to alerts of gunfire in the 700 block of Lasalle Street, which led to Shaw’s home. He was on federal supervised release for trafficking crack cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon.

After obtaining a search warrant, police found 82 grams of heroin, 10 grams of cocaine, 312 grams of cannabis, drug packaging materials, digital scales and utensils with cocaine residue, multiple cellphones, a 9mm pistol and ammunition, and an AR-15 with ammunition in Shaw’s home, prosecutors said.

Shaw was indicted on drug trafficking and gun charges. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges in August and admitted he violated the terms of his supervised release by committing new crimes.
