KANE COUNTY, Ill. - A woman is dead after a crash in Campton Hills Monday afternoon.
At about 4:35 p.m., Campton Hills police and Pingree Grove and Countryside fire officials responded to the intersection of Route 47 and McDonald Road for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
Upon arrival, first responders located a black Ford Escape off the roadway on the northeast corner of the intersection, driven by a 69-year-old woman.
A Kenworth semi-trailer truck with a loaded 53-foot trailer was also located off the roadway on the northwest corner and was driven by a male driver.
The total weight of the loaded semi-trailer truck was approximately 70,000 pounds and was transporting mulch.
According to preliminary information, the Ford Escape was traveling westbound on McDonald Road and failed to stop at the stop sign.
The Ford Escape entered the intersection and was struck by the semi-truck traveling northbound on Route 47.
The driver of the semi-truck reported no injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Escape had to be extricated from the vehicle with life-threatening injuries.
She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Campton Hills Police Department was assisted by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
