Police: 2 killed in fiery crash on Dan Ryan ramp

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Two men were killed in a fiery crash late Tuesday on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side, police said.

The single-vehicle crash happened at 11:22 p.m. on the Chinatown feeder ramp from the inbound Dan Ryan, according to Illinois State Police.

Police said the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the wall and became fully engulfed in flames.

Two men had to be extricated from the vehicle and were both dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatalities.

The ramp was reopened to traffic at 5 a.m., police said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
