OAK PARK, Ill. (FOX 32 News) - Police have found a body matching the description of a missing mother of three. 48-year-old Alicia Yaus went missing over the weekend from her Oak Park home. Wednesday night, police found a body in nearby Forest Park.
Right now, police are only calling this a death investigation. Officers say they are waiting on a medical examiner's report to determine if this was a homicide.
Police were called to an industrial park in Forest Park Wednesday afternoon after getting a call about a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived, they found a car with a woman's body inside, the car secluded, sitting behind a row of businesses.
Oak Park police tell FOX 32 News that the body inside matches the description of missing 48-year-old Alicia Yaus.
Family first reported the mother of three missing Sunday after she didn't return home Saturday.
Police say the car the woman was found inside is registered to Yaus, a dark blue Volvo seen here being towed from the industrial park. The woman's body was found in the driver’s seat with no obvious signs of trauma.
An Oak Park police commander says this was a missing persons investigation and they had no evidence of foul play.
“We were treating this as missing person’s report. So the information that we got form the family was just that they were very concerned for their safe return and wanted her to be located," Commander Ladon Reynolds said.
Police tell FOX 32 News they are waiting on the medical examiner to conduct a report.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
