23-year-old school bus driver cited in Dan Ryan rollover

A 23-year-old school bus driver from Hammond, Indiana has been ticketed for Tuesdays rollover crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

A school bus overturned Tuesday afternoon on Chicago's Dan Ryan Expressway, injuring five minors, ages 13 to 16.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes at 35th Street, right near Guaranteed Rate Field – home of the Chicago White Sox.

The children were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition, officials said.

The driver of the bus – identified as 23-year-old Elyas Martinez of Hammond, Indiana – was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage and Driving Too Fast for Conditions.
