Just after 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a person shot at 227 block of E. Grand Ave., according to a preliminary report from Chicago police.

Investigators determined a 50-year-old man and an unknown person began arguing when the offender pulled out a gun and fired shots at the victim, the report said. Police recovered a weapon at the scene.

The man sustained a single gunshot wound to his left shoulder, according to the report. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital where he was treated and released.

Hopkins said the incident appeared to be isolated and there was no threat to the public.
