Shots fired at police in South Chicago, 2 in custody

Two teens were arrested after shots were fired at Chicago police officers Sunday night on the South Side.

Officers responded to a disturbance around 7:30 p.m. where several people were gathered in the 8200 block of South Coles Avenue.

Upon their arrival, one of the people in the group pulled out a gun and shot in the direction of the officers, police said.

Suspects tried to run away from the scene but two 17-year-old boys were taken into custody. Police also recovered two guns.

There were no reported injuries. No Chicago police officers fired shots during the confrontation, according to the department.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
