A Spirit Airlines jetliner that took off from Los Angeles International Airport on Friday returned and landed safely after the crew reported "fumes in the cockpit and cabin," the Federal Aviation Administration reported.

The Airbus, flight 630 to Denver, landed without further incident about 9:50 a.m., the FAA reported.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the oxygen masks in the airplane deployed, and firefighters were waiting for the plane when it landed safely on Runway 25 Left.

Paramedics evaluated the passengers, and "no patients are currently requesting transport," the LAFD reported.

The source of the fumes was under investigation.
