COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. - A young mother’s holiday joy turned into heartbreak after the Christmas presents she bought for her two children reportedly vanished during an Uber courier service delivery.
Ki’ani Macklin, 23, said she spent her last $200 on gifts for her 2-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter, but they never arrived. Macklin used the delivery service to get the gifts from Chicago to her home in south suburban Country Club Hills because her car had broken down.
"She didn’t bring my Christmas stuff, so there’s literally nothing under my tree," Macklin said.
According to Macklin, the Uber driver claimed the items were prohibited. She said messages sent to the driver went unanswered, leaving her to believe the gifts were stolen.
"My last 200 dollars I spent for my kids’ Christmas gifts," Macklin said.
Macklin filed a police report and contacted Uber but said she has yet to receive any resolution. FOX 32 also reached out to Uber for comment but has not received a response.
