SURPRISE, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- Surprise Police officials say a woman has been arrested, after a child tested positive for meth at a hospital.
According to a statement, officers were called to the hospital on March 25 regarding a six-month-old child who tested positive for meth. The child's mother said she left her with 39-year-old Rene Galbreath, who is the child's step-grandmother. A search warrant was subsequently issued to search Galbreath's home, and officers found methamphetamine inside a room where Galbreath had been watching the child for several hours.
Galbreath, according to the statement, admitted to knowing the drugs were in the room, but said she did not know how the child got them. She has been booked into the 4th Avenue Jail on child abuse, endangerment, and drug-related charges.
