SWAT situation underway on Far South Side

The public has been asked to avoid the area near 105th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue due to an active SWAT incident. At least one man was wounded in a shooting.

One person was taken into custody after a SWAT standoff and a shooting on Chicago's Far South Side early Sunday morning.

Police said two people were barricaded inside a residence in the 10500 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue around 2:13 a.m. 

According to police, a 29-year-old man was shot multiple times and self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. He is currently listed in critical condition.

A second victim was taken to Roseland Hospital with a graze wound to the left forearm and is in good condition.

Following the shooting, authorities established a perimeter and declared a SWAT situation. It was later cleared and one person was taken into custody.
