Fenton High School superintendent placed on leave amid investigation; principal steps in

The superintendent of Fenton High School District 100 has been placed on administrative leave amid an investigation into a former teacher.

Fenton High School students had an e-learning day Friday after threats were made against the school and a school official on administrative leave.

The school said all students and staff were evacuated and safe.

Late Friday afternoon, Interim Superintendent Sam Bentsen said the threat is being investigated by Bensenville police and the FBI. But, they believe they found the source of the threats.

"We've been told that the preliminary investigation indicates the threat originated from outside of the country. The source of the threat also made multiple simultaneous threats to several other schools across the country," Bentsen said.

During the E-Learning day, students were instructed to participate in Google Meets video conferences, following a 10 a.m. late start schedule.

Zero Hour classes were not held, and all extracurricular activities were canceled.

This threat comes one week after the superintendent of Fenton High School was placed on administrative leave amid an investigation into a former teacher.

Bomb threats, sexual assault allegations roil Fenton High School community

The Bensenville Board of Trustees will convene on Tuesday, with the future of Fenton High School expected to dominate discussions as parents intensify calls for action in response to sexual assault allegations against a former educator.

There has been outrage in this community for weeks after allegations of sexual abuse surfaced involving a teacher, dating back to 2011.

The school board came under fire after the public found out that the allegations had been reported and some knew about them.

FOX 32 Chicago is not naming the employee, as they have not been criminally charged. However, the former teacher was fired this month after being placed on administrative leave last year.

Since the allegations came to light, the public has been calling for new leadership in the district.
