PLAINFIELD, Ill. - A semi-truck drove off the roadway while on Interstate 55 near southwest suburban Plainfield and rolled over on nearby train tracks Sunday morning.
The Plainfield Fire Protection District was dispatched to the scene near the highway just north of Route 30 around 10 a.m., according to a post on the district’s Facebook page.

Crews found the semi off the road and upside down on the tracks. Photos posted on Facebook appeared to show that the truck’s trailer lost much of its contents. The semi was carrying chicken broth and disinfectant wipes.
Firefighters also contained a small diesel spill at the accident site.
The driver of the semi was out of the truck by the time fire personnel arrived. They were taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another car was involved in the accident. The driver refused treatment or transport to a hospital.
Part of I-55 was temporarily shut down to remove the debris from the accident. Train traffic in that area would be shut down for an "extended period of time" to clean up the debris the fire district said.
