American Airlines plane clips United flight at O’Hare Airport

A plane clipped the tail cone of a United Airlines flight at O’Hare International Airport on Wednesday morning.

A plane clipped the tail cone of a United Airlines flight at O’Hare International Airport on Wednesday morning.

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration said the American Airlines plane was sitting on the taxiway awaiting departure when the other plane made contact with the tail cone around 9:50 a.m.

The United flight was headed to the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii. The American Airlines flight was headed to Los Angeles.

No injuries were reported. The United Boeing 787 plane was carrying 293 passengers and 10 crew members.

A call to the Chicago Fire Department was made at 10:10 a.m. for the incident.

The plane was being inspected by United’s maintenance team. A different plane will take the passengers to their destination on Wednesday afternoon.
