JOLIET, Ill. - Two people have been arrested in connection with a robbery and subsequent credit card fraud in Joliet early Thursday morning, according to the police.
Deon Tillman, 28, of Joliet and Anasia Williams, 23, of Crest Hill, were taken into custody this week and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Tillman faces charges of robbery and violation of pre-trial release, while Williams is charged with unlawful use of a credit card, retail theft and violation of pre-trial release.
Police responded to the robbery at approximately 12:31 a.m. on Jan. 4 near West Jefferson and North Hickory streets. The victim told officers he was assaulted and robbed after escorting an acquaintance to an apartment in the 100 block of North Hickory Street.
Once inside the building, the man was confronted by a male and female assailant, later identified by police as Tillman and Williams. The victim was punched, kicked, and forced to the ground. His wallet, containing cash and credit cards, was stolen.
Shortly after the incident, police said unauthorized purchases were made using the victim’s credit card at a nearby gas station and restaurant.
The victim sustained injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.
During the investigation, officers identified Tillman and Williams as the alleged suspects.
On Jan. 6, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Williams was located in the parking lot of Riverwalk Homes at 362 North Broadway Street and arrested without incident.
Williams was also charged in connection with a Dec. 24, 2024, retail theft at the Burlington store on North Larkin Avenue.
Tillman was arrested later that day at 4:54 p.m. while walking near Division Street and North Broadway Street. He was also arrested without incident.
Police determined both suspects were under pre-trial release conditions stemming from previous arrests.
Tillman was reportedly wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his arrest.
Both suspects remain in custody at the Will County Adult Detention Facility as the investigation continues.
