WAUKESHA CO., Wisc. - A tow truck operator was killed in a hit-and-run crash on a highway in Wisconsin on Tuesday.
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department identified Hussain Farhat, 40, as the victim of the hit-and-run.
Around 6:41 p.m., Farhat was loading a disabled car on the eastbound shoulder of I-94 east of Sawyer Road when he was hit by a blue minivan that fled the scene, police said. The minivan continued eastbound and exited the highway in an unknown direction.
Farhat was taken to Aurora Medical Center Summit where he died.
On Wednesday, the sheriff’s department said it received an anonymous tip about the suspect minivan at a residence in the Village of Wales. Investigators identified a suspect based on who owns the car.
The suspect, a 39-year-old man, turned himself in to police during the investigation. He was booked at the Waukesha County Jail and charged for hit and run causing death, a felony.
The crash remains under investigation.
