Woman, 57, dies after being found with gunshot wound in Austin apartment fire
CHICAGO - A woman died after she was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside an apartment that was on fire Friday morning in the Austin neighborhood.
The 57-year-old was discovered inside an apartment after a fire around 2:16 a.m. in the 200 block of South Lavergne Avenue, police said.
She was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported by paramedics to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office has not yet released her identity.
