SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - A 33-year-old woman was seriously injured when a semi slammed into her car Thursday evening in west suburban Aurora.
About 5 p.m., the semi was going north on U.S. Route 30 when the car tried to make a left turn in front of it from Heggs Road, according to Aurora city spokesman Dan Ferrelli.
The semi T-boned the car, sending both vehicles into a ditch on the west side of the road, Ferrelli said.
Fire crews extricated the woman from the vehicle and she was taken to a hospital in serious condition. She was expected to survive, Ferrelli said.
The 58-year-old man driving the semi was not hurt. No citations had been issued for the crash as of 9 p.m.
