Zarriel Trotter and his mother talk recovery, safe spaces

CHICAGO (FOX 32 NEWES) - The 13-year-old boy who spoke against Chicago violence and was struck by a stray bullet nearly a year later said he has remained committed to his goal of turning around the neighborhood.

Zarriel Trotter and his mother, Alica Williams, joined Good Day Chicago to talk about his recovery and how Trotter remains positive despite the pervasive threat of violence in his community.

"People shouldn't condone this type of stuff because this stuff can lead to getting killed and you should just try to put your life in something positive and not nothing negative so you can make something bigger," Trotter said.
