Blackhawks score twice in final minutes, beat Ducks in OT
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Artem Anisimov scored 1:53 into overtime and the Chicago Blackhawks rallied from a two-goal deficit in the final moments of regulation for a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.
Marian Hossa and Duncan Keith scored man-advantage goals in the final 1:41 of regulation, and Brent Seabrook assisted on all three goals.
After 58 minutes of scoreless play, the defending Stanley Cup champions roared from behind in their first trip to Anaheim since winning Game 7 of the Western Conference finals here six months ago.
Hossa ended John Gibson's shutout bid during a 6-on-4 power play with 1:41 to play, and Keith got the tying goal with 26.6 seconds left.
Patrick Kane extended his points streak to 18 games with an assist on Keith's score, and Corey Crawford stopped 23 shots. The Blackhawks improved to 3-1-1 on their annual six-game road trip while the circus takes over United Center.
Andrew Cogliano and Chris Stewart scored early goals for Anaheim, and Gibson stopped 29 shots. The Ducks have lost seven of 10 after this gut-punch defeat.
Anaheim hosted Chicago on Black Friday for the ninth time in what's becoming a rivalry tradition. But it's mostly a holiday for the Blackhawks -- they've won four straight Black Friday games at Honda Center.
After Anaheim's season ended one victory shy of the Stanley Cup Final last spring, the clubs revived their rivalry last month in Chicago. This rematch included plenty of after-the-whistle chippiness and high-quality play expected from these powers, but the Ducks took the lead before the hundreds of Blackhawks fans at the sold-out Honda Center had even settled in their seats.
The speedy Cogliano caught Chicago's defense well out of position, taking a pass from Carl Hagelin and scoring his third goal of the season on a breakaway.
Ducks center Ryan Kesler exemplified their determination in his play against Toews, his defensive assignment throughout last season's playoffs. Toews and Kesler even dropped their gloves late in the first period, but the linesmen separated them before anybody could throw a punch.
Moments after Anaheim's first power play ended, the Ducks caught several Blackhawks out of position and went ahead 2-0 when Stewart's apparent pass attempt fluttered past Crawford. Although the newcomer has only seven points, Stewart is among the few Ducks who haven't underachieved on offense this season.
