BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Aly Ahmed scored 20 points, Dedrick Basile added 15 to go with 10 rebounds, and Cal State Bakersfield cruised to a 71-48 win over Chicago State on Saturday night.
Damiyne Durham had 12 points for Bakersfield (17-7, 7-2 Western Athletic Conference) and Jaylin Airington 11. Ahmed also hauled in nine rebounds and was 8 for 8 from the foul line as the Roadrunners shot 42 percent from the field (25-60) and controlled the glass 47-36 to get their third straight win.
Bakersfield scored eight of the game's first 10 points and never trailed. Leading 34-23 at the break, the Roadrunners protected their double-digit advantage the rest of the way.
Joshua Batson led Chicago State (4-22, 0-9) with 17 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and seven rebounds. Quron Davis had nine points for the Cougars, who were held to 32 percent shooting.
