The Chicago White Sox have traded star slugger Jake Burger to the Miami Marlins.

In exchange, the South Side team acquired left-handed pitcher Jake Eder, who is the fourth ranked prospect in the Marlins system and No. 9 overall left-handed pitching prospect in baseball.

The 24-year-old has gone 5-8 with a 2.60 ERA and 147 strikeouts in 24 starts over two seasons in the minor leagues.

Burger, the 27-year-old infielder, has 25 home runs and 52 RBIs over 88 games this season.

The move comes just before the trade deadline, and after the White Sox have already traded away a number of stars in the past week.
