CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Cubs have activated right-hander Jason Hammel off the bereavement list and optioned right-hander Justin Grimm to Triple-A Iowa.
The Cubs made the move Tuesday, a day before Hammel is scheduled to start against the Los Angeles Angels.
Hammel didn't travel to Chicago's weekend series at Oakland due to a family matter. He's 11-5 with a 3.07 ERA in 21 starts.
Grimm has a 4.58 ERA in 46 relief appearances for the Cubs this season.
