Lampson's 4 saves help Fire play Crew to 0-0 draw
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) — Matt Lampson had four saves, including a diving stop in the 68th minute, to help Chicago play Columbus to a 0-0 draw Saturday.
It was the first shutout of the season for Lampson, who came into the game fifth in all of Major League Soccer with 10 saves.
Both teams came up empty after some early opportunities. The Fire (0-1-1) had six corners in the first 10 minutes and Columbus had a pair of shots blocked, a couple of offside calls and Frederico Higuain came away empty handed on two early shots - the first of which was saved by Lampson in the 11th.
The Crew (0-2-1) got their first corner early in the second half and continued to apply pressure on Chicago, but Tony Tchani's shot in the 54th minute was saved by Lampson and Ethan Finlay's right footer a couple minutes later sailed wide left.
Gilberto Souza Jr.'s attempt from the top of the box in the 62nd - the Fire's on only shot on goal - was saved by Steve Clark.
