NFL star, actor Bubba Smith posthumously diagnosed with CTE

CHICAGO (FOX 32 NEWS) - NFL star and well-known actor Bubba Smith was diagnosed with CTE five years after his death, prompting the ever-present discussion of head trauma in sports.

From the Concussion Legacy Foundation, Dr. Leonard Messner and the son of a Bears legend Tregg Duerson join Good Day Chicago to talk about the prevalence of the brain disease in modern athletics.

The Concussion Legacy Foundation is hosting an event called 2016 Chicago Honors on June 23 at the University Club to benefit the nonprofit's Chicago Concussion Coalition through advocacy, awareness, education and research.
