CHICAGO (AP) — Jaden Jackson scored 22 points as Utah Valley held on to blunt a furious Chicago State rally with an 82-76 win on Saturday.
Konner Frey's 3 gave Utah Valley (9-11, 3-2 Western Athletic) a 61-45 lead with 11:21 remaining, but Chicago State outscored the Wolverines 29-13 in the next 10 minutes to tie it at 74 on Trayvon Palmer's layup with 1:25 left.
Chicago State (4-19, 0-6) shot 10 for 14 from the field and 7 for 7 at the free-throw line in that span.
From there, however, the Cougars shot just 1 for 4 from the field while Utah Valley State shot 8 for 8 from the free-throw line.
The Wolverines used a 15-5 run to start the second half and led 48-40 on Ivory Young's 3 with 16:25 to play.
Utah Valley shot 15 for 30 from 3 and made all 17 of its free throws.
Palmer led Chicago State with 19 points.
