Some District 130 parents are keeping their children home Monday as they protest reported unsanitary conditions and ongoing concerns about custodial staffing.

Students, parents and former custodians are raising concerns about conditions inside schools in Blue Island School District 130 following the layoffs of about 30 union custodians and a transition to a private cleaning company.

The District 130 School Board heard dirty details about the unsanitary conditions in classrooms, bathrooms and buildings on Tuesday night.
