Chicago migrant shelter evictions set to begin Sunday

The first round of Chicago migrant shelter evictions is slated to begin today with about 35 people. Chicago has a shelter stay limit of 60 days, but that was extended several times throughout the winter. If someone is evicted and does not have a house plan, they can return to the beginning of the temporary shelter process.

CDC in Chicago after measles outbreak

With the city now grappling with five confirmed measles cases and health experts warning of more imminent cases, the CDC has dispatched a team from its headquarters in Atlanta to Chicago.

Measles outbreak spreads across the country

Three cases of Measles were reported in Chicago just last week, and before that 10 in Florida. Two of the three Chicago cases were in children living at the city-run migrant shelter in Pilsen. The CDC says there are now Measles cases in 17 states.

2nd migrant child diagnosed with measles attends CPS

A second migrant child staying at the city-run shelter in Pilsen has been diagnosed with measles. The second child, the third reported case in Chicago, does attend CPS. The school asked that all CPS students who live at the Pilsen shelter be kept home from school for the time being.
