Chicago opens POP! Heights Park on Far South Side

POP! Heights Park is part of an initiative to re-purpose nearly one million square feet of blighted areas on the Far South Side to spur economic growth and repopulate communities. The park is accessible to thousands of people living in Roseland, Morgan Park and West Pullman.

A man was shot while walking outside early Friday in the Roseland neighborhood.

"It's not uncommon for someone to walk out and see someone attempting to steal their vehicle," said Chicago Police Deputy Chief Larry Snelling. "Please if you see this, just call the police. Do not try to confront these individuals. I understand that it's really hard to walk out to see someone breaking into or damaging something you paid your hard-earned dollars for, but it's really not worth it."
