Convicted felon threatened victim in Carol Stream Police Department parking lot: 'I'll kill you right here'

The victim of an alleged battery was returning to his vehicle in the parking lot of the Carol Stream Police Department when a verbal altercation ensued between the victim and a friend of the defendant in the battery case. While exchanging words, Nicolas Mayfield allegedly told the victim, “I'll kill you right here,” while gesturing his waistband — insinuating he had a gun.

While monitoring cameras that captured the area of the 1700 block of Payne Street, detectives observed a person who appeared to have a handgun in their waistband. When detectives arrived in the area, two people fled on foot while allegedly clutching their waistbands.
