Some in Illinois calling for statewide assault weapons ban

Illinois Democrats are working behind-the-scenes to drum up support to ban assault weapons and large-capacity magazines — as Gov. J.B. Pritzker and state lawmakers also look at ways to fix shortcomings in the state’s firearm owner identification card system and pass other gun control measures.
