Chicago Weather: A cloudy Christmas Eve with a chance of sprinkles

Fox 32 Meteorologist Mike Caplan has the forecast for Dec. 24, 2024.

There isn’t much sun in this forecast period, if any at all.

Today will be cloudy with a chance for a few sprinkles near the lake. Highs will be close to 40.

Tonight will be cloudy with lows in the low to mid-30s.

Tomorrow there might be a few sprinkles, but organized rainfall favors areas south of here. Highs will be close to 40 once again.  Thursday will be milder with highs in the mid 40s.

It looks dry for the Bears game at night.

Friday through Sunday feature unseasonable warmth with highs between 50-55.  Rain is likely during this period with a nod towards Friday and Saturday being wetter Sunday.

Tuesday is also the anniversary of Chicago’s lowest wind chill. On December 24, 1983, the wind chill was -82 degrees. The actual air temperature tanked to -25 that morning.

Under the current wind chill formula it would have been -57.
