New movie ‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot' hits theaters next month, details work of local journalist

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - In Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Tina Fey's character Kim Baker is a journalist who  decides to pack up, move to Afghanistan and cover the war. But this fiction is based on a reality.

Kim Baker is based off a real person named Kim Barker, and she worked here in Chicago at the Chicago Tribune when she decided to head to the Middle East.  She wrote about her story in her book "The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan."
