2 killed, 2 injured in crash on Chicago’s Northwest Side

Two people were killed and two others were injured in a crash on Chicago’s Far Northwest Side early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 12:16 a.m., a red sedan was traveling westbound in the 8700 block of Irving Park Road and hit a black SUV that was originally traveling eastbound, according to Chicago police. The black SUV may have been attempting to turn across the red sedan’s lane.

The driver of the red sedan, a 29-year-old man, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in fair condition with unspecified injuries.

There were three women in the black SUV. A 30-year-old woman was taken to Lutheran General Hospital where she died. A 56-year-old woman was taken to Resurrection Hospital where she also died. A third woman, 23, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in fair condition with unspecified injuries.

The black SUV may have also hit a third car, a gray sedan. A 22-year-old man in the gray sedan was not injured and refused emergency medical services.

Police said no citations were pending. Area detectives are investigating the crash.
