25 Illinois National Guard members deployed to Europe

CHICAGO - Twenty-five members of the Illinois National Guard have been activated and are on their way to serve overseas. 

The guardsmen and guardswomen, whose unit is based in Chicago, are headed to the U.S. European Command. 

They were activated on Thursday, but their mobilization ceremony was held Friday at the Northwest Armory. 

The 1863rd Financial Support Detachment performs a full range of accounting tasks.
