3 people injured in separate shootings on Chicago's South Side
CHICAGO - Three people were shot and injured within about five hours in separate incidents on Chicago’s South Side late Friday night into early Saturday morning.
The victims ranged in age from 20 to 37 years old.
Englewood shooting
What we know:
A 37-year-old woman in a verbal altercation with a known offender in an apartment in the 5600 block of South Emerald Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood around 8:30 p.m.
The altercation became physical, police said, and the offender pulled out a handgun and shot her in the stomach.
Arriving officers were directed toward the gunman and arrested without incident.
The 37-year-old woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. Area detectives are investigating.
What we don't know:
Charges are pending and police did not identify the suspected shooter.
West Englewood shooting
What we know:
A 30-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 7100 block of South Damen Avenue a little before 11 p.m. in the West Englewood neighborhood when he heard two cars drive by at a high rate of speed, police said.
The man heart gunshots and realized he was shot in the hip. The two cars drove off.
The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to Christ Hospital where he was listed in good condition.
What we don't know:
No one is in custody and area detectives are investigating.
East Side shooting
What we know:
A 20-year-old woman was in a car in the 10700 block of South Avenue F in the East Side neighborhood a little before 4 a.m. when a black sedan pulled alongside her.
An unknown offender inside the sedan fired shots in the woman’s direction and drove off, police said.
The woman was shot in both ankles and was taken to Trinity Hospital where she was listed in good condition.
What we don't know:
No one is in custody. Area detectives are investigating the shooting.
