3-year-old boy shot during armed robbery in Little Italy, suspect on the run: police
CHICAGO - A 3-year-old boy is hospitalized after being shot during a robbery in Little Italy and the suspect is on the run, police said.
What we know
Chicago police were called at 4:50 p.m. Saturday to the 1000 block of W. 14th Street for reports of an armed robbery and a person shot.
A 20-year-old man was in a parking lot when he was approached by an armed suspect.
Police said the suspect pulled a gun and demanded the man's property. Moments later, the suspect fired shots into the air, striking a 3-year-old boy inside a nearby apartment.
The child, who sustained a gunshot wound to his left ear, was transported to Stroger Hospital and is in fair condition.
The 20-year-old was uninjured and no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
