Chicago crime: 20-year-old woman fatally stabbed during fight on West Side

CHICAGO - A 20-year-old woman was fatally stabbed during a fight on Chicago's West Side early Friday, police said.

The altercation occurred around 12:15 a.m. in the 5300 block of West Chicago Avenue. Authorities said one 20-year-old woman approached another outside, leading to a fight in which both sustained multiple injuries from a sharp object.

The woman who initiated the confrontation was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The other woman suffered multiple lacerations to her arm and was taken to a hospital in good condition. She was subsequently taken into custody.

No other injuries were reported.

Area Four detectives are investigating the incident.
