Bolingbrook couple marries hours before welcoming daughter

A Bolingbrook couple with plans to make New Year's Eve their wedding anniversary only days before the birth of their daughter found themselves in a bit of a dilemma.

Their OBGYN informed them that the baby needed to make her way into the world Tuesday, the same day they were to tie the knot.

So, the hospital decided to throw them a wedding just hours before inducing labor.

At 7 a.m. inside the chapel at UChicago Medicine in Hinsdale, Brittany Kolawole and her partner Anthony Hawkins became husband and wife before an intimate group of family and friends, including the couple's four sons, all while Brittany's doctor was waiting in the wings to perform the delivery of the couple's firstborn baby girl.

"My original due date was in January, so I'm like ‘okay, we're gonna get married on New Year's Eve,’" Kolwaole said. "That's it, I'm a stop playing. It's the last day of the year. I'm going to take over New Year's Eve and make it about me and then Anniya said ‘no it's going to be about me too,’ so now this will forever be her birthday and my wedding anniversary."

Fox 32 is in contact with the birthing team, and they will let us know once Brittany goes into labor.
