Charges filed in Hammond homicide; police believe suspect may be in Chicago

Formal charges have been filed against a 39-year-old man in connection with a homicide in northwest Indiana on Dec. 27, and authorities believe he may be in Chicago.

HAMMOND, Ind. - Formal charges have been filed against a 39-year-old man in connection with a homicide in northwest Indiana on Dec. 27, and authorities believe he may be in Chicago.

Allen Woods is accused in the death of Tiffany Woods, according to Hammond police.

Officers initially responded to the scene for shots fired, which prompted an ongoing investigation that led to the charges against Allen.

"We are committed to ensuring justice is served in this case," said Hammond Police Chief William Short. "Our officers and detectives worked diligently to gather evidence and secure the necessary charges."

Allen's last known location is in Chicago, but further details haven't been released. 

Police are urging anyone with more information on Allen's whereabouts to contact their local police department or call 911.
