Woman, 65, dies in apartment fire on Chicago's Northwest Side

A woman was killed in an apartment fire on Chicago’s Northwest Side early Sunday morning.

The fire happened at an apartment in the 1700 block of North Harding Avenue, according to Chicago police.

Found unresponsive

What we know:

Firefighters and police responded to the call of the fire around 1 a.m. 

When officers arrived, they found a 65-year-old woman on the first floor of the apartment who was unresponsive.

She had burns about her body.

Paramedics attempted to treat her but she died at the scene.

There were no other injuries or displacements to other units in the building, police said.

What we don't know:

Chicago fire and police are investigating the cause of the fire.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not identified the woman.
