Chicago man arrested in condominium burglary, mail theft case
CHICAGO - A joint operation between the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Chicago police led to the arrest of a local man accused of burglarizing a condominium and stealing mail earlier this year.
Matthew Hutcheson, 33, of Chicago, was taken into custody on Christmas Eve near 60 East Benton Place in connection with the Aug. 26 condo theft in the 400 block of North Carpenter Street.
Hutcheson faces several charges: Burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of fraudulent identification, and resisting a police officer.
In June 2024, authorities say Hutcheson was arrested for possessing counterfeit USPS keys and fraudulent identification. However, he absconded from pre-trial release and did not attend his court dates.
