Investigation underway after man critically injured in NW Side fire
CHICAGO - A man was critically injured in a fire that broke out Wednesday morning on Chicago's Northwest Side.

What we know:
First responders were called to a fire that started at a two-story apartment building after midnight in the 2300 block of North Meade Avenue.
Firefighters pulled a person from the basement unit. He had a cut on his neck and burns all over his body, according to Chicago police.
Paramedics treated him at the scene and transported him to Loyola Hospital in critical condition.
Chicago firefighters and police are investigating.
What we don't know:
The cause of the fire is under investigation. It was not clear if any other residents of the apartment building were displaced.
