Chicago police officer hurt in crash while responding to call on South Side: officials
CHICAGO - A Chicago police officer was injured in a crash while responding to a call on the city's South Side Thursday morning.
The incident happened at 8:10 a.m. in the 5300 block of S. Federal Street.
The on-duty officer, driving a marked vehicle, struck a fence and manhole cover while responding to the call, according to Chicago police.
The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital in good condition.
Authorities said the officer has since been treated and released.
No other injuries were reported.
