Chicago police chase ends in arrest of 2 suspects linked to suburban burglaries
CHICAGO - A police chase that began on Chicago’s Northwest Side ended Friday afternoon on the South Side with the arrest of two suspects involved in several suburban burglaries.
The chase started around 3:39 p.m. after a Nissan Rogue, driven by one of the suspects, struck an on-duty Downers Grove officer near Addison and Kedzie in Chicago.
Investigators had been tracking the suspects on Friday as they were connected to additional residential burglaries in unincorporated Kane County and Naperville earlier in the day. They were also wanted for a recent residential burglary in Downers Grove.
After fleeing from a White Castle parking lot, where police attempted to arrest them, the suspects abandoned the Nissan Rogue near 31st and the Dan Ryan Expressway and got into a Dodge minivan.
The chase continued through Chicago’s South Side, where Chicago police stopped the minivan near 71st and Lafayette in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. The suspects attempted to flee on foot but were taken into custody after a brief pursuit.
The Nissan Rogue was later recovered.
The officer struck by the suspects' vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The incident remains under investigation, and no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
