Man fatally shot by Chicago police on city's Far South Side
A man was fatally shot by Chicago police during a domestic dispute Thursday morning on the city's Far South Side.
CHICAGO - A man was fatally shot by Chicago police during a domestic dispute Thursday morning on the city's Far South Side.
What we know:
Officers responded to a domestic-related call around 7:04 a.m. in the 900 block of East 100th Street in the Pullman neighborhood, according to a preliminary statement from Chicago police.
When officers arrived, they entered the home and encountered an armed man inside a bedroom with a female victim.
As police attempted to de-escalate the situation, the victim was able to escape the room. The suspect then pointed a gun in the direction of the officer, who fired, striking the man.

Paramedics were called to the scene and transported the suspect to University of Chicago Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police recovered a weapon at the scene.
One officer was taken to a local hospital for observation.
What we don't know:
It was not immediately clear how many times the officer fired their weapon or whether the suspect discharged their firearm during the incident.
Neither the victim’s nor the officer’s injuries were immediately known.
What's next:
The officer involved has been placed on routine administrative duties for at least 30 days while the Investigative Response Team continues to investigate.
