Chicago Public Schools may have a later start next academic year
CHICAGO - Chicago Public Schools may be starting a week late next fall.
The proposed calendar was released on Thursday.
If approved, the first day of school would be pushed back to coincide with the Democratic National Convention.
CPS says the later start date will allow students to not only attend the DNC, but to participate in the civic process.
Approval of the calendar is set for Feb. 22.
