Chicago School Board Candidates Forum held Saturday for Districts 6, 9, and 10
CHICAGO - A candidates' forum for the Chicago School Board, covering District 6, 9 and 10, was held Saturday afternoon.
The event was scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the AKArama Foundation Community Service Center.
Candidates for District 6, 9 and 10 were given a chance to share their visions, priorities and plans for the future of the Chicago Public School District.
People who attended the event were also allowed to ask questions and engage directly with the candidates.
Multiple topics were covered during the forum, including reducing class sizes in the district.
"We need to reduce class sizes because our kids currently are not getting the support that they need," said one speaker. "And additionally, when it comes to Special Ed education, it's such an important issue to talk about because over a quarter of students in CPS have an individualized education plan and many of them are not getting the services that they need."
The event was hosted by Theta Omega and the AKArama Foundation, Inc.
